I’m going to start today with today’s scripture. As I was looking through the bible, I found 2 Corinthians 4: 17-18 (NLT), which I found encouraging:
“For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”
I think that these two verses put our lives into a proper, spiritual perspective. If we look at what we are promised through Christ Jesus, our present troubles are small and won’t last. Through faith, when we put our trust in our eternal God, they mature us spiritually. What we see day to day is temporal; that is, they are only temporary – here today and gone tomorrow. What we are promised through our faith and trust in our Heavenly Father is eternal; that is, it will last forever and bring glory to us and to our Lord.
Child of God, don’t look at what you’re going through today with human eyes. Everything, through faith and trust in our Lord and Saviour, can be endured because it’s temporal. When we look to what is promised to those who love God, we can change our perspective on our life. Again, we have a choice – concentrate on what we are living through here or looking to our Saviour who has promised us eternal life if we don’t give in to fear and dismay. Personally, I don’t even think that our finite minds can even fantasize what is waiting for us in heaven. Nothing here on earth even comes close. That is what I am putting my faith and hope in – to see our Lord face to face and to hear Him say, “Well done, good and faithful servant”.
