There is a saying in English that is used when someone is going through a hard time, that “they can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel”. What this means is that they are in a dark place, like a tunnel, and they can’t see the light at the end, in other words, they can’t see the end of their trial. I, and probably many others, can say that they’ve been in a place like this. This was me, approximately seven years ago. Yes, I was living, but I didn’t seem to be going anywhere. I had a future, but my life circumstances would have made my life unfulfilling. It wasn’t until I turned back to the Lord, and started walking in His ways, that I was able to see the end of the tunnel of my life again. Listen to Proverbs 4:18 (NLT) in light of my story:
“The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day.”
Starting to walk in the Lord’s ways and within His will was like waking up to the first light of dawn. Good things seemed possible again. I started to look forward to a new day, and not just the continuation of stumbling along in a dark tunnel of despair and unfulfilled dreams. Each and every day, as I sought the Lord, my days brightened. I’m not saying that everything was perfect. The enemy of my soul, Satan, wasn’t happy. He kept using all the same arguments that he had used before to keep me in the dark. But My Heavenly Father had shown me a much better way in which I could become who God intended for me to be.
Child of God, has God fallen from first place in your life amid a life of rushed priorities and the cares of this world? Turn back to Him who loves you with an everlasting love and let Him show you the life that He has planned for you. You will never be the same again!
