When my children were growing up, they were very curious as most children are. The older they got the more complicated the questions. Sometimes I was hard pressed to answer while trying to figure out how they even knew about what they were asking. In many cases, I had no answer to their questions. And, I didn’t want to say, “It’s that way because” and not fill in the reason.
Recently, I’m realizing that the more I read God’s Word, that I have questions on why certain things are happening. Why does God allow certain things to happen? God is sovereign, that is, He does what He wills and who can question or stop Him? I think that we have to reach a point where we take something in faith when we don’t understand. Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV) says:
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
God isn’t arrogant or boasting – He is merely stating the truth. How can the thing that is created say to the Creator, “Why did you make me like this?” We will never understand God completely, I think that it’s OK to question but not to the point where we lose our peace.
Child of God, ask yourself this question – “Do I trust God with my life? Does it really matter if I understand or not?” The world says to not trust anyone or anything without question. I might not understand what God is doing but I know that He has a plan for my life and that He loves me. There is no one on earth who can promise us this! When Satan tells me something and God tells me something, I always take what God tells me as the best thing for me because God is sovereign and I’m not.
