When I was working, I had regulations and government-approved procedures that dictated what I could and couldn’t do in my area of expertise. Everything that I did had to conform. It wasn’t to impose unnecessary restrictions on me but to help me do my work. If I stayed within the confines of the regulations, no one could prosecute me or the Canadian government.
The bible gives us regulations and God-approved doctrine to help us to live godly lives each and every day. If we follow what the Word of God says, then we will be in the will of God. I like the following two verses, because they are proof of the value and authenticity of the bible. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) tells us that:
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
An atheistic view of the bible says that it was written by men, who want to control and determine what people should think and do. This verse confirms that the bible is “God-breathed” and that it gives us everything that we need to live holy lives. This passage closes with the affirmation that if we follow what the bible says, we will need nothing else to live Godly lives.
Child of God, do you read and live by the bible? I know that it’s difficult sometimes to find time, but how else are we going to know that we are on-track with God’s plan for our lives. The bible is THE instruction manual on how we should live. It isn’t written from a human point-of-view, but with a God point-of-view. I know its importance in my life because every time I sit down and reach for something to keep my mind occupied, the Holy Spirit tells me it’s a great time to read the bible. That’s not always what I want to do, but I know that it’s what I should and must do.
