I think I’ve been around long enough to realize that money doesn’t buy happiness. This doesn’t mean that I’m especially wise but I’ve seen enough people to know that this is a true statement. King Solomon, who was given wisdom by God to lead the nation of Israel, says this in Ecclesiastes 5:10 (NLT)

“Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness”

Yes, money is important. However, we need to realize that money isn’t everything! Money isn’t evil, but the love of money is. But, you would never know that by looking at people today. You’ve probably heard people say, “Oh, if only I had enough money, I’d be happy!” Well, they wouldn’t be! Because when you get a little, you realize that you like the freedom it gives you so you want more. Our enemy, Satan, doesn’t want anyone to be happy or to feel fulfilled. He only wants to steal, kill and destroy. You’ll read this in John 10:10. Only Jesus gives an abundant life

Child of God, be happy with what you have. The search for more and more money is one of Satan’s greatest deceptions. Believe that God loves you and that He will supply all your needs. God knows His children intimately, and He knows what we need and He knows what will hurt us. Trust in a loving God to bring you your heart’s desires, and don’t be deceived by a fallen world. You’ll be much happier if you do!
