Everybody needs encouragement from time to time. A kind, encouraging word to someone may be just the thing that they need to overcome daily trials  As Christians, we must be encouragers. There are two verses that I would like to share with you: The first is 2 Corinthians 9:6.

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously”

Are you discouraged and wish someone would encourage you? Well, when was the last time you gave an encouraging word to someone? This verse tells us that if we don’t encourage (sow sparingly) we won’t reap (receive) encouragement.

The second verse encourages us to encourage each other. We find it in 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NIV):

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

Encouragement builds up our confidence and helps to overcome worry and the cares of this world.

Child of God, I believe that when we love others and take the time to give encouragement, we are showing them God’s love. There is a verse in the bible about being a cheerful giver. Although the context of this verse is financial, I believe that God will bless us when we cheerfully give our time and effort to encourage someone. One of the best things we can do when we are concerned about something is to get ourselves off of our minds and sow into someone else’s life.
