Who are you? Are you who you think you are or are you who other people or the media say you are? Do you know who God says you are? I find that people love to talk about other people. Their problems, the people that they associate with and who they think they are will always good for gossip. Many try very hard to always present themselves in the best light by covering up their faults. Social media continuously bombards us with information about who we should strive to be, what car we should drive or what product will make us feel good about ourselves. Many are defined by their job, their hobby or their marital status. As a result, many people are confused about who they are or who they should be and live unfulfilled lives. Even many Christians, who know how much God loves them, are burdened with conflicting thoughts, and never attain the life that our Lord and Savour Jesus Christ died to give them.
So, which category do you fit into? Do you believe who the world says that you are or do you believe who God says that you are? We have a Heavenly Father who loves us and who wants us to live full, prosperous lives through Jesus Christ our Lord. If we have accepted the atoning sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, we will never be fatherless! Isaiah 43:1 tells us to:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.
We have been made clean from our sins because we have been washed by the blood of Jesus Christ. God knows who we are and He calls us by our name and has declared that we are His. This is an eternal promise! We will never be left alone no matter what people say! God’s love is everlasting and He will never stop loving us. We are eternally His and this is confirmed in 1 John 3:1a :
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!
Through Christ, we are powerful, strong, mighty and able. Do you believe this or do you prefer to believe who your parents, friends, boss or the world says you are? Do you want to start believing who God says you are? Then start reading His Word, the bible.
If we don’t know who we are through the atoning death of Jesus on the cross, how can we ever hope to change our identity? If we don’t have God’s word in our hearts, how can we fight and contradict who Satan and the world says we are? I strongly encourage you to start believing who our Heavenly Father and our God says we are. Jesus died for us so that we can!
