This morning, I was listening to a song called “God Will Make A Way” by Don Moen. Lately, I have been ministering to friends and family about the problems that they are experiencing in their lives. While I was listening to the song, I realized that while we try to find solutions to the problems in our lives, that only God has the lasting solution. I felt overwhelmed with a sense of safety at the words that I was hearing!
I would like to recite the first stanza of the song for you, so that you can see what I mean:
God will make a way; where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see; He can make a way for me
He will be my guide, hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day, He will make a way.
When we face a problem that seems unsolvable, it is easy to fall into fear and become overwhelmed. Our enemy, Satan, is always there to fan the flames until we are unable to think or to move. Unlike those in the world who do not believe in God or His Son, Jesus Christ, we have the Creator of Heaven and earth that wants nothing more than to help us. In our limited way of thinking, we cannot even comprehend the ways of our God. And He loves us with an everlasting love, wanting to guide us and shelter us under His wings like we are told in Psalm 91. And as our Heavenly Father, He makes His unlimited help available to us each day.
So, do we really understand who God is and what He is capable of? In the Old Testament, God revealed who He is by using different names. These seven redemptive names of God show the love that He has for us, and how he can make a way for us to overcome life’s problems, if we believe in Him. He is:
Jehovah-Rohi – “The Lord Our Shepherd”
Jehovah-Jireh – The Lord Will Provide”
Jehovah-Rapha – “The Lord Who Heals You”
Jehovah – Tsidkenu – “The Lord Our Righteousness”
Jehovah – Shalom – “The Lord Our Peace”
Jehovah – Shammah – “The Lord Our Always Present One”; and
Jehovah – Nissi – “The Lord Is My Banner, My Protection, My Victor”
Every redemptive name here represents an area in our lives where God helps us overcome life’s issues. There is no area of our life where God is powerless. Not one!
There is one more verse that I want to mention to you, and it has helped me immensely: Romans 8:28 (NLT):
“ And we know that God causes everything to work together[a] for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
This verse promises that when bad things happen to us, God will take these bad things and turn them into something good. Nothing is impossible for God, Nothing! There is nothing that He has not triumphed over, nothing has ever beaten Him. So, when we’re overwhelmed, we can have faith and trust in our Heavenly Father to help us because He loves us with an everlasting love. Hallelujah!
