Have you ever been frozen into immobility by fear or indecision? Afraid to take that first step in a new direction for your life? What if I make a mistake? What if it doesn’t work out? So many people stay rooted in place and never take the step that will lead to a better life. Well, you’re not alone!

A couple of years ago, I was having a terrible time with anxiety issues. I had faith that God would be with me but I wasn’t too sure that I trusted Him yet. That night, I had a dream that I was standing on what seemed to be a train platform.  However, instead of a train in from of me there was what seemed to be a doorway of sorts at the top of a couple of steps. Instead of a door, there was a beautiful, multi-coloured waterfall. As I was looking at it, I heard a voice say, “Step up – step through.”  I hesitated – what was on the other side of the waterfall? Again, I was frozen in fear and indecision. Again, the voice said, “Don’t be afraid! I will be with you! Step up – step through”

So, I stepped up and started to walk through the waterfall. As I did, the water started to wash away all my fears and anxieties. I now knew who was speaking to me – it was my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. As the water flowed over me, I heard Him say, “You see! When you have faith in me and step through your problems, I can help you. Trust in Me, and I will never fail you!”

What I was told is confirmed in James 2:17 (NIV):

“In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”

It’s when we move in faith that our Lord can help us. And when we continue to have faith through the trials of our life, we will learn that we can trust in our Lord and Saviour, Jesus. Step up to your fears – you know, the ones that our enemy Satan keeps telling us that we can’t overcome. Then, step through the fears knowing that in doing so, Jesus can help you.
