I think that we can all agree, if we’re honest with ourselves, that we’re not perfect. The love that we give, and receive in the world, is not perfect either. But, did you know that you can be perfectly loved? Perfect love can only come from our Heavenly Father. His love isn’t conditional like the relationships we have here. His love is unconditional and eternal – it will never end. We will never have to worry that we will lose His love like in our relationships here.
If you’ve found the scripture reference that I gave you at the beginning of this message, please read with me in 1 John 4:18, NIV.
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”
Perfect love drives out fear. But, fear of what? Fear of loss in relationships. Because of imperfect love, our relationships with our friends and family suffer. Sometimes broken friendships can be mended but not always. Broken relationships leave us feeling fearful, angry, rejected, well the list goes on. And what if the relationship is broken by death? The death of a loved one from sickness or tragedy can be devastating. It can leave us feeling totally lost and afraid.
Is all lost? No, Why? Because of the perfect love of our Heavenly Father. We will never lose His love. His perfect love drives out the fear of being alone. If you are a child of God you will never be alone. Did you realize that. Our enemy Satan wants us to feel lost and alone, feeling punished because maybe we could have saved a relationship or treated a family member better. Satan wants us to feel punished. To feel alone. But in Hebrews 13:5 (NLT), our Lord and Saviour has promised us that He will never fail us and He will never abandon us. If we could only get the truth of this scripture into our hearts, we would never have to fear being alone again! If you are fearful or anxious of being alone, you won’t experience the perfect love that God has for you.
So, my final word to you is that you are perfectly loved. God will never stop loving you, so don’t be afraid. Leave your fears with your Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, who loves you more than you could ever possibly imagine.
