Throughout the ages, great men and women have fulfilled God’s purpose for their lives.
- The Reign of Pharaoh
Exodus 9:16, NIV – But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.
Even though Pharaoh did not know it, God even raised him up — a pagan king — because He had a specific purpose for him.
- Children of Reuben, Gad and Manasseh
Joshua 22:3, NIV – For a long time now — to this very day — you have not deserted your brothers but have carried out the mission the LORD your God gave you.
God has a special mission or purpose for the children of Reuben, Gad and Manasseh, and He worked with them to ensure that they would fulfill it.
- King David
Psalm 57:2, NIV – I cry out to God Most High, to God, who fulfills his purpose for me.
There was no doubt in King David’s mind. God had raised him up to fulfill a very special purpose for the people of Israel.
Isaiah 48:15, NIV – I, even I, have spoken; yes, I have called him. I will bring him, and he will succeed in his mission.
Acts 2:23 NIV – This man was handed over to you by God’s set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.
Jesus had a mission, a set purpose for coming to earth. Isaiah declared that He would succeed in His mission, and Peter proclaimed that God even used wicked men to ensure that Jesus would fulfill His purpose.
- Barnabas & Saul (Paul)
Acts 12:25, NIV – When Barnabas and Saul had finished their mission, they returned from Jerusalem, taking with them John, also called Mark.
In Acts 11, Barnabas and Saul were commissioned by the church in Antioch to send a financial gift to the church in Judea. Even though King Herod had arrested a number of disciples in Jerusalem, including James the brother of John and Peter, Barnabas and Saul stayed in Jerusalem until they were sure that their “mission” was fulfilled.
These are just some of the many examples of how God works with us, to fulfill His purpose, His mission for our lives.
Through the two seminars “Discovering Your Purpose”, Part I and Part II, you are going to be given the tools you need to discover what is your purpose in life, what path you need to be on, and how to get to where you need to go. That’s what “Purpose” is all about. Purpose is not just knowing what you should be doing, but also being able to “picture” what you should be doing, knowing what steps to take to get there, and being able to monitor your progress to make sure that you stay on track.
